10.00 am to 4.00 pm – Faversham has had a Charter Market for over 900 years and is one of the oldest in the country, mentioned in the Domesday Book 1086. The market will be even bigger than usual this Festival Friday with regular and guest stalls – fresh produce, artisan bread, cakes, pies and pastries, meat & fish, fruit and vegetables and local crafts, herbs, and plants.

Fishy Friday
The focus of the afternoon and evening is on fish, freshly landed in the heart of Faversham adjacent to the old fish market by Bluey Walpole of Hollowshore Fisheries.

1:00 pm is high tide, when Bluey’s lovely ‘Louise’, fresh from her annual re-fit, lovely 'Louise' 2016will moor alongside Town Quay, between the Swing Bridge and the timber-framed TS Hazard for the landing of fresh fish.

This is a rare event these days and a reminder of Faversham Creek’s busy history of fisheries and trade. Don’t miss it !

mark hamiltonMark Hamilton will be selling fresh Lees Court oysters down on Town Quay ‘when the boat comes in’, in the marketplace at lunchtime and in the evening … until he sells out! Mark is a familiar sight on market days and during festivals, selling oysters from his bicycle basket.

There’s plenty to do during the afternoon – maybe have a chat with the the crew, buy fish fresh from the boat, snack on lovely local oysters, wander into town to enjoy the fabulous Charter Market, original and independent shops, explore our historic sites and museum … then back to Town Quay for the evening !

6.30  pm until dusk – Fish Night on the waterfront – an evening that was one of last year’s highlights. Join us for a fish supper down on the quayside – plenty of fabulous food & delicious drinks. This year’s stalls include:

Mightyfinethings cocktails & mocktails, Faversham Creek Hotel fish barbecue and bar, Corinne’s Creative Kitchen, Faversham Sea Cadets barbecue, The Kent Cider Co., Enzo’s Bakery, Mad Cat Brewery and Hollowshore Fisheries.

7:30 pm – live music from ‘Julie and Gavin Atkin of Singdanceandplay.net and friends’
