lovely 'Louise' 2016

1.00pm – Fish, freshly landed in the heart of Faversham from  the lovely ‘Louise’ by Bluey Walpole of Hollowshore Fisheries. High tide is at 13:00 when we plan to have freshly landed fish for sale.   ‘Louise’ and Bluey will be formally welcomed by the Worshipful Mayor of Faversham Councillor Shiel Campbell


Friday night is Fish Night from 6.30pm until dusk – an evening that was one of last year’s highlights. Join us for a fish supper down on the quayside – plenty of fabulous food & delicious drinks, and live music from 7.30pm!

Mark Hamilton will be selling fresh Lees Court oysters down on Town Quay ‘when the boat comes in’, in the marketplace at lunchtime and in the evening for supper from 6.00pm until he sells out!

In Faversham, we are very proud of  our oysters. “The Lees Court Oysters are considered to be some of the best Oysters in the world for their consistency, taste, and purity.” Read More Here.

Saturday 17th September – throughout the town

Faversham  has had a Charter Market for over 900 years and one of the oldest in the country, it was mentioned in the Domesday Book 1086. The market thrives with traders selling fresh produce, artisan bread, cakes, pies and pastries, meat, fruit and vegetables and local crafts, herbs, and plants.


Keep a look out for special festival dishes at all of the above in locations throughout the town!

On the Saturday of the Food Festival, the traditional Saturday Charter Market will be supplemented with Best of Faversham traders and guest food stalls, as well as various tastings and demonstrations.

New for 2016 is the Ale Trail! Explore the beers and pubs of Faversham on our Ale Trail

On 1 or 2 days – Saturday & Sunday! £5 per person – includes souvenir Ale Trail tasting glass and tastings of 12 fine ales for you to vote on. What’s not to like? Full details and ticket information can be found here

Also – there will be a host of stalls in St Mary of Charity, parish church, and they will be selling tea and cakes. Beyond the church, down a leafy walkway is the Abbey Physic Community Garden , where on Saturday afternoon there is live jazz from Trio de Romance & a Teddy Bears’ Picnic

2.00pm to 5.00pm – live jazz from Trio de Romance in the Abbey Physic Community Garden (fund-raising for the Garden). Trio de Romance: Mike Porter-Ward Double Bass, Charles Sherwood Clarinet/Saxophone, Ernie Kranenburg Guitar

3.00pm – in the Abbey Physic Community Garden, a Teddy Bears’ Picnic sponsored by Tesco.

The 2016 Food Hero Award for the Faversham Food Festival

7.30pm – celebration supper in the garden of The Phoenix Tavern in Abbey Street – £4.00 per person – includes a popular supper of mini fish ‘n’ chips and mushy peas or macaroni cheese – full details and ticket information can be found here

8.30pm – presentation of the Award by Faversham & Mid Kent MP, Helen Whately – who will be this year’s Local Food Hero ?

Sunday 18th September – throughout the town

10.00am onward – there will be  food stalls and tastings, demonstrations and talks throughout the town and the Market Place and Preston Street  will be filled with producers and food specialists.

10.30am – Harvest Festival in St Mary of Charity, Faversham’s parish church – Church Road and Church Street, Faversham. Come one, come all – celebrate the earth’s bounty!

From 10.30am – the now famous Sausage Trail including last year’s winners MB Farms and Baldy’s Butchers … as well as Independent Trotters & Macknade Butcher. Find out about the history of the Sausage Trail here !
MB Farms & Baldy Butchers will have their stalls outside their shops, Independent Trotters has a stall in the Market Place. In the Abbey Physic Community Garden, Macknade master butcher, Roy Campbell, will be cooking this year’s Macknade Sausage – here’s John Fleming again talking about community involvement! £3.50 per person – tasting & voting for your favourite sausage ! 11.00am – 4.00pm – TasteFaversham presents a programme of talks & demonstrations in the Lees Court Talks venue in the Alexander Centre

11.00 – 12.00 – master butcher, Roy Campbell of Macknade Fine Foods, butchers a lamb – meat for sale afterwards
12.00 – 12.30 – Dev Biswal, chef and proprietor of the Ambrette Restaurants talks about ‘why in Kent?’
12.30 – 13.00 – David Ware talks about Ediblescultures
13.00 – 14.00 – Bluey and Fiona Walpole talk about Lees Court Estate Oysters and their fishery business
15.00 – 16.00 – Elizabeth Roberts talks about the Farming Year at Lees Court and why farming matters.

12.30pm – 2.00pm – children are invited to bring along a parent to watch them make their  Dream Pizza and share it – an opportunity to let your imagination run wild and eat it together. £4 per child sponsored by the Co-op in support of Faversham Foodbank – full details and ticket information can be found here

3.00pm – 4.30pm – Mad Hatters Tea Party in West Street – come and join Alice and the Mad Hatter for a Tea Party like no other …! No tickets necessary – just come along and buy tea and cake!

3.30pm –  Sausage Trail results in the Market Place

6.30pm & 7.30pm – Gala Dinner with TasteFaversham at the Red Sails Restaurant
